Parallel Operation of Electric Motors with Nonidentical Power Ratings

Kwang-Kyo Oh(Sunchon National University, Korea)

This paper studies parallel operation of electric motors with nonidentical power ratings. While parallel operation of identical motors has been studied in the literature, nonidentical cases have rarely been studied. Assuming that two motors drive a common rotational load with reference speed, this paper considers how the motors fairly share the mechanical load relative to their nonidentical power ratings. To ensure failure safety, it is assumed that each motor has its own controller without any centralized coordinator. Under these assumptions, a parallel operation method is proposed by allowing the motors to share their torque current information through communication.

An H∞ Robust Consensus Control for Distributed Multi-Agent Systems Characterized by Uncertain Time-Varying Topologies

Junghoon Kim, Dohyeok Kwak, Jung Hoon Kim(POSTECH, Korea)

This paper proposes an H_infty robust consensus control approach to a distributed multi-agent system characterized by an uncertain time-varying Laplacian matrix. When the structure and weights characterizing the topology of the multi-agent system are time-varying and upper bounds and lower bounds on the latter are given, this paper develops a linear matrix inequality (LMI)-based controller synthesis, by which an H_infty robust performance corresponding to the consensus problem is ensured to be bounded in a predetermined level gamma(>0). The effectiveness of the developed results is also verified through a numerical example
